one day a man heard on the radio that a flood was coming to his home area.
the radio said that everyone needed to evacuate the area and go to a safe place.
the man said to himself "i'm a religous man, i pray, god will save me".

The flood came.
a row boat came to the man's house.
someone from the boat cried out to him "get in the boat, the flood is getting worse"
The man called from his house "i'm a religous man, i pray, god will save me"

A helicopter flew overhead.
someone from inside cried down "get in the helicopter, the flood is getting worse"
the man cried back "i'm a religous man, i pray, god will save me"

The man died.
At the gates of peter, he spoke "i'm a religous man, i pray, why did this happen to me"
Pete spoke back "god did try to save you with a radio message, a boat, and a helicopter. what are you doing here?"

~~~i heard this on an episode of west wing~~~
STORY #3:
This is a serious of things that i found interesting and shocking from my neighbor engineer who's an EMT...
1. he answered a call one night. it was this man who was driving a honda civic. he was driving at a very high speed. he drove into a tree. he drove at such a high speed that when he crashed broadside into a tree the civic sheered in half. not in a crinkled mess or metal twisted about the cut ends. no, the tree cut the civic like it was a clever, a clean cut, in half. the man died.
2. when a person is deeply affected by an event, traumatised even, the brain can only digest the event into short term memory. this is located in the center of the brian. to help a person who is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, who can not process the event into long term memery, the patient is asked to watch a moving object that is moving from side to side. they are asked to do this because it helps the brain use both sides. this allows the brain to move information from short term to long term memory, helping the patient to "get over" the event.
STORY #2:
at lunch my friend brought this up (after i finished my cheeseburger by the way). there was this guy in germany. he went online and posted a message asking for volenteers. the volenteers were to allow the german guy kill them, and then eat them.... this is so disturbing just all by itself, the fact that some guy wants to eat people (very silent of the lambs). The most disturbing part of this story though is that he found SEVERAL volenteers for his request. the german man, choose the youngest volenteer who was about 30 years old, the volenteer died somehow, and the german man ate most of his body. when the police came to the german man's house, there was still some of the volenteer's body in the fridge. now was is even more scary was the the german man couldn't really get convicted for this act. he couldn't get convicted because the volenteer wrote in his will that he WANTED to have this done to him, that he wanted his corpse to be eaten by this man....
all i can think of after hearing this is WHAT THE FUCK?!
today was story day and these are some of the stories i heard....
STORY #1:
Building a nuclear power plant requires a lot of work, a lot of money and a lot of people. when a plant down in texas was being built back in the 80's there was 10 thousand men and women working on that site. 10 thousand people, it's a small city!
on the site, the small city started for form it's own culture. a hamburger joint opened up using light bulbs and a metal box to cook the meet. gambling took over a couple rooms in the unfinished plant, workers would walk in, place a bet, walk out and continue working. during lunch hour (unpaid by the way) female workers prostitued themselves.. for 50 dollars they would perform blow jobs in the lunch room. the mob was brought in with tons of cash, and every friday they would cash the workers checks for 5 cents on the dollar.
every day, at noon and midnight, a picture was taken from atop of a large steal pole of the site and the progress. the managers collected all the photos after 8 years to make a little movie with the stills. they took notice of this particular pile of scaffolding poles that kept moving from one spot to another. the broke down the pics and calcuated that it took 3 days to move the pile from spot A to spot B. When the pile was moved to B it would be immediatly moved to A. This happened over 6 years. The two workers were asked why they kept doing this. they said that when they were first hired, their supervisor told them to do it. the supervisor was fired half way through the project so when they finished they had no one to take orders from. so they approached another supervisor and asked him what they should do. he dismissed them, not having enough time to talk to them, told them to move the pile back. they finished again, asked him again and he told them again. the two workers just stopped asking and kept moving the pile. no one noticed for 6 years.
so today i met this girl. i was sitting on the porch with maggs, bart and juan and their upstairs neighbor came home. she got this UPS package in the mail. she absolutely flip out in such excitment that it only made you want to know what was in it. she opened it up on the porch and showed it all off. it was the cover, cd, and book design for her album. she keeped creaming in delight saying that she's been waiting for 4.5 years for this moment. she was so proud of herself, so accomplished. i sat there in awe of her excitment, wishing that one day i could have a day like hers. one day to just feel so fulfilled and satisfied that all i can do is scream in excitment. i can only hope the best for her.
This is a tiny article of what went on last night at the public hearing i went to.
there was some good points made last night.. such as if you make waste and you can't get rid of it then stop making the waste. i'm not saying that i love the fact that there are spent fuel rods here and that they are going to be here for longer than anyone really knows but i have to say that it is the better of two evils. if the plant is shut down, then how else are the vermonters.. people in new hampshire and mass goign to get electricity. sure they can start up a coal burning plant but i would rather have clean air. green power is always the best choice, but it is impractical in certain parts of the world and there isn't one station that could support a vast area of poplulation. intill the federal goverment puts more money into exploring other options of power sources or researching how to dispose of nuclear waste or reuse it, then nuclear power is the way to go.
i support vermont yankee
so this past weekend was quite interesting.
i was out with some girls from work, and i was talking about this engineer who is kinda rude to me, kinda mean sometimes, and very stressful on my work day. i was like, i don't really like him, i don't want to work with him really at all... and one of the girls told me that his wife died realier this year. i instantly felt like crap. like crawling into a hole and just hidding away.
i learned that there is always a story behind a person's actions and you can never fully understand anyone... ever...
also on the bill for this weekend..
a friend's tattoo + her ass
a girl i don't know getting a piercing i convinced her to get...
all of new england walmarts are against me
hair cut and highlights
spending way too money
catching up with an old friend
and hanging out with new ones
oh man.
so yesterday night was the start of my three day weekend and i decided to treat myself to a movie that i've been wanting to see for a long time. i go to the theater, which a little on the old side, and sit down and watch. all during the movie i get this sudden feeling of fear. i keep thinking something is next to me, i hear this squewking.... so i put my feet up on the chair in front of me the the squewking continues. so i move to the other side of the theater. i keep hearing the squewking, but there is no one on the other side of the theater, the only other person there is the guy in front of me and he isn't moving a bit. all of a sudden, i look down, and i see a brown lump movign around of the ground a couple steps down from me.
i ran out and asked for my money back...... damn rats...... i never saw the end of the movie, now i have to wait till it comes out on dvd.....
