http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/fun.games/07/27/game.lawsuit.ap/index.html
ok this seriously irritates me. the game was labled M, for mature, for people 17 and older. now granted the hidden sex scenes was not a good idea for the game makers, but....
a 14 year old boy should not have been bought this game in the frist place. i think all these issues are steemed off of parents that are not active in thier child's life, and when they come across something they don't like (like discovering thier kids play a video game with sex in it), they get all pissed. it isn't like the violence, the glorification of robbery and just bad ethics aren't bad things. parents should realize that. there is just no common sense out there. that woman's lawsuit should be thrown out do to her incompentence and ignorance. it is very similar to the whole thing a couple years ago about how eminem's music (cd) is not appropriate for kids. it is labled such, and therefore should not be bought for children.
ignorance is one of my biggest pet peeves.

i totally forgot to write about this when i was reading up on this.
i was reading an article on cnn.com: http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/07/14/lobotomy.debate.ap/index.html
and i because of my boredom, i decided to google the history of lobotomies: http://www.lobotomy.info/adventures.html
it is actually quite interesting. almost barbaric to think that this was actually allowed. basically, he shoved an ice pick in the corner of the eye socket (not the eye, but the space inbetween the eye and the nose). took a hammer and hakced away at the frontal lobe. when the procedure was over with, the patient was left with a black eye and no care in the world. the person was enevitably left a zombie. now, i would love to get my hands on a decent biography on Dr. Walter Freeman. i think that he could have used a lobotomy himself. what was going on in his mind to justify what he was doing. truely sickening.
http://www.rmichelson.com/Artist_Pages/Seuss/dr_seuss_gallery.htm
i went to this gallery in northampton, ma for no particular reason. to my suprise i came across in part of the gallery, a collection of paintings by dr.seuss. it was really interesting to see his work upfront, i actually wasn't aware he did paintings outside of his books. if searched on amazon.com you can come across a book titles "the secret art of dr.seuss". they had this book at the gallery, along with another one, that was priced at 70 dollars. next time i venture there, i'll have to write down the author and title so i can find it for a cheaper price online. that seemed like a much better book.
oh the things you find when you aren't looking. :-)

This has been a Johnny Deep movie weekend.
sunday i saw two of his most recent movies, Finding Neverland and Willy Wonka.
Finding Neverland i thought was cute, and quite sad. the photography was beautiful when they streamed fantasy in with the read world. i've always been one of those people that become inspired by a movie, and after this one my thoughts of writing a book increased. i can just never think of what to write, or how to start. i wish i could just hide away, with no tv, just music, in the woods, in a cabin and let my mind wonder.
Willy Wonka was a good movie. I had to constantly remind myself not to compare the old version with this one. They tried to make it as individualistic as possible, with the umpalompas, the musics, the factory, and wonka himself. the endings are slightly different, which is nice. i would say that the older version is more "realistic". that wonka is human, which can be seen at the end of the movie when he retires to his office and scolds charlie for drinking the flying soda. depps wonka is more of a chartoon character. he's so socially awekward that you can only feel sorry for him on how nervous he is, but when watching his face on the screen there are moments that revel that he is saner than he looks, that he knows exactly what he is doing and the awekward moments is all an act. the newer version is all fantasy, the colors are fantastic, and imagry is great. i wish i could hear the words of the songs sung by the oompaloompas. unlike the first version there are no subtitles. go see the movie and don't try to compare the two. they are both good on their own ground. but if i was to have to choose to watch the old or the new verison in an afternoon. i would try to do both.

good ole vermont. luckily for me, i get off at exit 3 if i'm going to the gym (i live at exit 2, and work at exit 1), and there aren't any overpasses on my route from work to the gym... but the thought is a little un-nerving.

this has been an interesting "vacation". i'm not going to call this a real vacation because i've had two of my yearly doctors appointments this week. no vacation includes doctors appointments. i've definetly learned that one should really get to know their extended family, because that would probably explain alot hahahaha. good thing to remember when you are thinking about getting married to someone.
mid-western things:
beer deep fried fish, freshly caught and cut up from the mississippi
deep fried cheese curds
liquor and beer everywhere
a picture of a dead deer in my brother's yearbook, it won some teacher a contest for smallest
deer
friday fish frys
fireworks all the time
you stick a beer can in a chicken and cook it in the oven... they sell the the beer can holder in
pick n' save

so i just got back to from the movies. i saw war of the worlds. it was quite a scary movie i must say. little dakota fanning is going to win something off of this, at least a nomination. the suspense was exhausting. it was well acted, well photographed, definetly a must see summer movie.

well i'm on vacation. i suprised my mother on saturday by flying out to wisconsin. she and my brother were quite taken off when i sneaked up behind them. after the shock, we hopped in the car and drove to my grandma's house out in minnesota to spend the weekend with the family. we spent most of it trying to help my aunt think of names for her upcoming twins. she'll find out in 3 weeks what sex they are. we ate mid-western dishes that i'm still not used to, but luckily we were treated to fish fry from my grandfather. he went fishing on sunday, caught, cleaned and fried. oh so good. my brother treated himself and his pyro tendencies to fireworks sunday night. luckily he didn't burn anything down at grandmas, but it was a decent show. he wanted to hit up the fireworks stand again on the way back to wisconsin but he spent enough money the day before haha.
that is the scariest thing about this state... beer all over, alcoholics are the thing to be it seems. my parents feel like outcasts because they don't drink. they love to hunt, and they love their fireworks. now i love fireworks, but when you hear them go off everyday all day, you kinda of get sick of them. it is really ruining the quiet neighborhood feel that this street has. my poor dog is going to have a heartattack with all this popping and cracking. i hope people lay off this week or i'm going to snap. also, idk if it is so safe to have these go off so close to the house, at least at my grandma's there weren't any neighbors, she lives in the middle of nowhere. we'll see how this goes...
