so yesterday i went on my frist skiing trip!!

I've always wanted to ski, a lot of people in my family ski, and i live in the adirondacks, so skiing is all around me. Honors sponsored this ski trip to bristle mountain in canadagia.. about 40 minutes away. I got a lesson, ski rentals, transportation, food and lift ticket for $30. I was all nervous trying this out, the mountain looked so big!

My lesson went well. I learned the wedge, and how to get the skis on and off, and the instructor said that i was a "natural athelet" hahahha. After my lesson, i went on the training hill for a bit. I mostly skied with this 13 year old girl from a local school because she was in my lesson group and she needed a buddy. After a while she convinced me to go up the mountain to go down on the easiest trail they had. So we get on the lift and everything was going well. When we got to the top, i completely spilled out. After being yelled at by the lift guy to get out of the way, i got my skis back on and started down the hill. Here is a trail map.. i had the one that is farthest to the left, that looks like a backward 7...

There was this huge 90 degree turn on this trail! I never really learned how to turn and i got all nervous and freaked out. I completly fell down in front of this ski lesson group. I got up and this ski patrol guy came over to see how i was doing. He noticed that my disposable camera fell out of my pocket and offered to take a picture of me after my fall on the moutain. So i'm trembling, on the moutain, holding my skis and possing for a picture for the ski patrol hahaha. He walked me down a bit till it was a bit flatter. I got back on my skis and headed down again. All of a sudden it got steeper and i couldn't slow myself down! So again i freaked out and totally crashed on the trail. I fell backwards, turned around with my skis pointing up the mountain and skidding down. I got snow all up in my underwear. The ski patrol guy came over to me too see how i was doing again. He was really nice and carried my skis down the mountain as i walked.

After my tramatising experience i decided i needed to eat lunch so i didn't pass out from anxiety (which happens a lot so i wasn't over reacting). I found some honors people and chilled out for a while. I was all ready to just sit around and not go back out. But everyone else was and i didn't want to be a whimp. So i got back on my skis and started practicing turning and slowing down on the training hill. My body got so tired by 2pm that i had to go rest up in the lodge for the rest of the day (well 2 hours). I got to know some honors people in the process and relaxed a bit.

I had a blast on this trip. I really want to go back again. I never really had a sport where i wanted to reach a goal before. But with this, i want to know how to ski well.. i want to be able to rip up the bunny slop and totally own the double diamond slopes. It's a real shame that it has to be so expensive.... Hopefully one day i can ski all i want, and be the best that i can be! :-)
