today was story day and these are some of the stories i heard....
STORY #1:
Building a nuclear power plant requires a lot of work, a lot of money and a lot of people. when a plant down in texas was being built back in the 80's there was 10 thousand men and women working on that site. 10 thousand people, it's a small city!
on the site, the small city started for form it's own culture. a hamburger joint opened up using light bulbs and a metal box to cook the meet. gambling took over a couple rooms in the unfinished plant, workers would walk in, place a bet, walk out and continue working. during lunch hour (unpaid by the way) female workers prostitued themselves.. for 50 dollars they would perform blow jobs in the lunch room. the mob was brought in with tons of cash, and every friday they would cash the workers checks for 5 cents on the dollar.
every day, at noon and midnight, a picture was taken from atop of a large steal pole of the site and the progress. the managers collected all the photos after 8 years to make a little movie with the stills. they took notice of this particular pile of scaffolding poles that kept moving from one spot to another. the broke down the pics and calcuated that it took 3 days to move the pile from spot A to spot B. When the pile was moved to B it would be immediatly moved to A. This happened over 6 years. The two workers were asked why they kept doing this. they said that when they were first hired, their supervisor told them to do it. the supervisor was fired half way through the project so when they finished they had no one to take orders from. so they approached another supervisor and asked him what they should do. he dismissed them, not having enough time to talk to them, told them to move the pile back. they finished again, asked him again and he told them again. the two workers just stopped asking and kept moving the pile. no one noticed for 6 years.
